Israel to host international conference on tourism

Israel has clarified its plans for hosting an international conference on tourism, saying the delegates would not now be taken to visit Jerusalem, the most famous holy sight, in the disputed east of the city. The conference is Israel's first as a member of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. Palestinian leaders have called for a boycott saying Israel is trying to use the event to gain the effective recognition of its control over East Jerusalem which it captured in the 1967 war.
