Israel Air Force conducted air strike on Gaza that led to the death of one Palestinian working in a smuggling tunnel on the border with Egypt. According to Israeli defence forces, the strike was carried out in response to rocket fires into Israel. Israel Defence Forces confirmed that two of the nine mortar shells fired from the Gaza Strip at southern Israel were actually phosphorous bombs. Two Qassam rockets were also fired From Gaza into Israel without any injury or property damage. Analysts say that the increased attacks from Gaza were apparently made in attempt to scupper Middle East peace talks. Hamas, which controls the Gaza strip, has condemned the talks.
