In Andaman and Nicobar islands, the Islands Tourism Festival got off to a colourful start at Port Blair. The Islands Lt Governor, Lt Gen Bhopindher Singh inaugurated the festival yesterday. More from our Correspondent:Inaugurating the tourism festival, the Lt Governor informed that the administration makes all out efforts to make these islands as one of the best tourism destinations of the world. He said the services of sea planes have been launched recently to attract more tourists and two more aircrafts will be procured to connect far flung islands in the Nicobar group. This 10 day long festival show cases the rich cultural heritage of the islands, besides the strides of developments in various fields. The displays in the tourism pavilion about the ongoing tourism projects such as Canopy walkway, Sound and light show at Ross island and beach resorts attracted a large number of visitors.For the first time, the internationally acclaimed all girls band from Shillong, Afflatus performed in the festival.
