The Gujarat High Court on Thursday issued a contempt notice to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Balwant Singh in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case. The notice has been issued for non-compliance of court's order on transferring in time three senior police officials involved in the case. A Division Bench of court asked the state government why the officers were not transferred on time despite directions from the court during the two previous hearings. The court asked the top officer to file a reply by 11th of next month.
