IS recaptures last Syrian urban bastion in fierce fightback

The Islamic State group has claimed to recapture Albu Kamal in eastern Syria yesterday after a fierce fightback. It is an effort to save the last urban bastion of its collapsing caliphate. <br/><br/>According to Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group Syrian regime forces and allied militia from Lebanon, Iraq and Iran overran Albu Kamal on Thursday but lost the town again just two days later after a string of IS counter-attacks and ambushes.<br/><br/>Meanwhile, in Syria, at least 26 civilians including 9 children have died in artillery fire and Russian air strikes on two displacement camps who had fled fighting in Albu Kamal and surrounding in eastern villages.
