Iraq’s partial parliamentary results

Iraq’s parliamentary results based on around 85 per cent of the total votes are expected to be announced today. This was disclosed by the spokesman of the IHEC, Qassem al-Aboudi at a press conference in Baghdad on Tuesday. Once the electoral commission announces the final poll results, the country's Supreme Court will have to certify them, after hearing appeals. Meanwhile, Iraq’s Alsumaria channel quoting IHEC has reported that results based on 66 percent votes count around the provinces of Iraq have shown the State of Law Coalition led by Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki in the pole position with 78 seats out of 325-member Parliament. It is followed by Al Iraqiya List led by former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi with 69 seats. Iraqi National Alliance is third with 59 seats and Kurdistan Alliance fourth with 41 seats. State of Law Coalition is ahead in seven provinces including Baghdad, Najaf, Babel, Muthanna, Waset, Basra and Karbala; Al Iraqiya Coalition is in the lead in five provinces namely Anbar, Nineveh, Diyala, Salahuddin and remarkably Kirkuk. Iraqi National Alliance first in three provinces and Kurdistan Alliance first in three provinces.
