Iraqi Oil Minister Hussain al-Shahristani has taken over the additional charge of power portfolio after the electricity Minister resigned over protests against power shortages in the country. According to Iraqi National news agency, Shahristani took over the power portfolio on a caretaker basis as acting minister. He is the oil minister of the country.<br/><br/>Earlier Iraq’s electricity Minister Karim Wahid resigned after protests in the south of the country including Basra in which a man was killed amid chaotic scenes that saw protesters smash up a government building.<br/>
