Iraqi Prime Minister announces new Cabinet

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has announced the list of his new Cabinet members last night. According to Iraqi National News Agency, Iraq's Parliament Speaker Osama al-Nujaifi said that he has received a list of 42 ministers and top government posts. He said, parliament will vote on the new ministers today. In his announcement, Iraqi Prime minister Maliki has submitted 13 acting ministers to fill his list until permanent choices are agreed upon. On the 25th of last month, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani had officially asked incumbent Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki to form the country’s next government after the rival political blocs approved earlier a power-sharing deal that ended the eight-month political deadlock. According to the Iraqi constitution, the new government and its programs will have to win the approval of an absolute majority of the members of the parliament.
