In the Iraqi parliamentary elections, early results show that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki has been locked in a tight contest with former Prime Minister Iyad Allawi. Iraq's Independent High Electoral Commission announced initial results from four of the country's 18 provinces; show that each of leaders is leading in two provinces.Analysts say that these initial results are not enough to get a clear national picture as these are based on less than thirty percent of votes. The final results will come out after the Supreme Court’s certification at the end of this month.Meanwhile Iraq’s Independent High Electoral Commission has said that it would investigate any election related complaints it received. The commission however added that the claims of fraud were either politically motivated or fuelled by a misunderstanding of the counting procedures.
