In order to form a government and end 8 month long power vacuum, the Iraq's parliament is meeting today to choose a speaker. Voice of Iraq news agency, quoted Prime Minister Noorie al Maliki as saying that Parliament’s session shall be decisive and a beginning for the establishment of the Iraqi State.Observers say that it remains to be seen whether a final settlement on government formation could be reached during the session. Former Prime minister Iyad Allawi's Iraqiya coalition won 91 seats in the March election – two more than incumbent Prime Minister al-Maliki's State of Law. But neither bloc secured an outright majority of 163-seat required in the 325-member Parliament.
