Iraq govt to respond to Kurdish govt's offer to freeze independence referendum result

Iraq government is yet to respond to the Kurdish autonomous government's offer to freeze the results of the recent independence referendum. The regional Kurdish government in a statement on Tuesday offered freezing the results of the referendum in exchange for dialogue and an immediate ceasefire. <br/><br/>The autonomous government claims the people voted overwhelmingly in favor of independence in last month's referendum. <br/><br/>Meanwhile, Iraqi Government is demanding that the results be annulled before it takes part in negotiations.Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi,who is on a visit to Turkey yesterday said that the autonomous government carried out the referendum without any consultation, though his government tried to stop the move.
