In Iraq, at least 8 people were killed and 15 injured in a car bomb explosion today near Baghdad.

Police said that six civilians and two policemen were killed when an explosives-laden car parked near an outdoor fruit and vegetable market in a predominately Shi'ite Muslim neighborhood of al-Obaidi exploded. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, but Islamic State regularly targets civilian areas in the Iraqi capital over the past week, killing nearly 100 people.
