Iran's parliament approves bill on uranium enrichment

Iran's parliament has approved a bill to urge the government to continue the 20-percent uranium enrichment. It will now go to the Guardian Council which is the final authority for approval. According to Iranian news agency ISNA, under the bill, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) is obliged to provide 20-percent enriched uranium fuel for Tehran' s research reactor. The parliamentarians also called for the prohibition of implementing IAEA requests, which go beyond the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) obligations. The bill was approved by the majority of the lawmakers.
