Iran's Interior Ministry has rejected a plan by opposition leaders to hold a rally next week in support of uprisings in Arab nations. Iranian reformist leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi have asked authorities for permission to hold the rally tomorrow, to show solidarity with recent anti-government revolts in Egypt and Tunisia. A ministry official says, permission would not be given for ‘riots’ by groups it considers seditious. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and President Ahmadinejad have expressed support for the Arab uprisings, with the Supreme Leader saying they represent an Islamic awakening in the region.
