Iran’s Head of Majlis Commission on National Security and Foreign Policy Alaeddin Boroujerdi has ruled out the alleged capture of Iraqi oilfield by Iranian armed forces. He told IRNA news agency that the issue is being investigated by the diplomatic officials. He added if the investigations show any problem, it would be solved soon. His comments have come following the allegations by Iraqi side that Iran seized control of a disputed oilfield along the border between the two countries.<br/>Iraqi government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh in a statement on Friday called upon the Iranian government to solve all the border disputes with Iraq through diplomatic means and to avoid the use of military force. According to Iraqi National news agency, after a meeting of Iraq's national security council on Friday to discuss the issue, government spokesman Dabbagh said that Iraq considers this penetration as a border breach and a violation of Iraq's sovereignty. Iraq's Deputy interior minister Ahmed Ali al-Khafaji earlier said that eleven Iranian soldiers took control of a well at the Fauqa oilfield in Maysan province which is about 300km southeast of Baghdad.
