According to Iranian channel Press TV, speaking at Tehran nuclear conference in Tehran today, President Ahamadinejad went on to call for the launch of an independent supervision committee to oversee global nuclear disarmament in the international community.Earlier Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei, in a message which was read out in the conference declared that the use of nuclear weapons was haram, which means forbidden, in Islam and nuclear weapons must be eliminated. He also charged that the US is the one and only nuclear criminal that falsely claim to be fighting against the spread of nuclear weapons. Noting that peaceful nuclear technology belonged to all nations including Middle Eastern countries, Iranian Supreme leader criticised those countries, which continue to amass nuclear weapons to guarantee their security at the expense of endangering the global security.According to Iranian news agency IRNA, during the two-day nuclear disarmament conference in Tehran, representatives for governments and civil societies are trying to address the nuclear disarmament issue and non-proliferation of atomic weapons. According to Iranian foreign ministry, officials or representatives from civil society and NGOs from 56 countries including India, Russia, China, Brazil, Japan, UK and USA are attending the conference, which has been called "Nuclear Energy for All, Nuclear Weapon for No One."The conference is expected to emphasize the need to make ‘clean and peaceful nuclear energy’ available to all countries.
