Iran will start enrichment process from Tuesday in the presence of inspectors and observers from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This was announced by Director of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi in a television interview in Tehran. According to Iranian channel PressTV, he said that Iran will inform the UN nuclear watchdog of the decision to start enriching uranium to 20 per cent to meet the requirements of the Tehran research reactor. The decision has come following Sunday's orders of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to country's atomic chief to start enriching uranium to 20 percent. US and several other countries have expressed concerned over Iran’s decision. US defence secretary Robert Gates called for a united front to pressure Iran while Britain said that it is clearly a matter of serious concern. Germany also intervened on the issue and said Iran should be alert that the West's patience is running out.
