Iran tests third generation centrifuges

Iran has claimed that it has designed and tested the country's third generation of centrifuges which would have isotope separation capacity more than six times the earlier ones. <br/><br/>According to Iranian channel Press TV, the Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, made the announcement at a ceremony commemorating the annual national nuclear day in Tehran yesterday. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was present at the ceremony.<br/><br/>Meanwhile Iranian news agency IRNA, quoting Ali-Akbar Salehi has reported that considerable uranium reserves are found in Narigan, in southern Yazd Province in the country and operations to spot uranium reserves in other parts of the country are underway. <br/><br/>The issue of Iranian nuclear programme is in the centre of controversy between Iran and Western countries led by US. Six major powers have agreed to further talks on Iran's nuclear issue. The UN Security Council has already imposed three rounds of sanctions against the country. <br/><br/>The US and several other countries accuse Tehran of seeking nuclear weapons, but Iran rejecting the charges, claims that it seeks nuclear technology for peaceful purposes including electricity generation.
