In Iran, prices of some items of energy changed from today due to scrapping of subsidies from energy products. According to Iranian news agency IRNA, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad announced this in a live TV interview. He said, Iran has huge reservoirs of petroleum and natural gas but the consumption of these very important commodities has not followed a reasonable pattern in the past years in the country. The agency says, government has paid a lot on subsidies for energy items to keep the prices low but this policy has proved to be ineffective. The government of President Ahmadinejad, since five years ago, started a big plan to cut the subsidies and reform the prices.
