Iran releases nine Indian sailors jailed for alleged smuggling

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that nine Indian sailors who were in a jail in Iran on charges of smuggling have been released and they will reach Delhi today. <br/><br/>In a tweet message, she thanked the Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif for a prompt action on New Delhi's request. <br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj had raised the issue of the jailed Indians with Mr Zarif during his Delhi visit in August. <br/><br/>These Indians, who were part of a shipping crew, were in a jail in Iran for two years on charges of smuggling oil.
