Iran invites world representatives to visit its nuclear facilities

Iran has confirmed that it has invited ambassadors and representatives of several world countries to visit its nuclear facilities. According to Iranian news agency IRNA, country’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told reporters in Tehran on Tuesday that the move is in line with the country’s previous measures regarding its transparent and peaceful nuclear activities. He informed that Iran’s Permanent Representative to the IAEA, Ali-Asghar Soltaniyeh, has invited ambassadors accredited to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), some ambassadors of the European Union and Non-Aligned countries as well as representatives of the Group 5+1 to inspect Iran’s nuclear facilities before taking part in the upcoming Istanbul meeting.Tehran times reports that invitation has been given for 15th and 16 th January to inspect the Arak heavy water nuclear facility and Natanz nuclear enrichment facility.Our West Asia correspondent reports that Iranian offer has come just weeks before Iran and permanent U.N. Security Council members plus Germany are scheduled to meet in Istanbul, Turkey in late January for talks on nuclear issue. Iran is facing four rounds of UN sanctions over its nuclear programme. Iran says that it is developing a nuclear program to produce electrical power. However, a number of nations, including the United States, allege that Iran's nuclear program is aimed at developing atomic weapons, a claim Iran has always denied.
