Iran has set up an eight million dollar fund to conduct serious research in the area of nuclear fusion. Stating this, Iran's atomic chief Ali Akbar Salehi today said 50 scientists have been hired for the work, which began nearly three decades ago. The ISNA news agency quoted Salehi as saying initially Iran was not very serious about pursuing it but fusion research has now been launched seriously. He said it takes 20 to 30 years before this process can be commercialised but Iran has to use all the capacity in the country to provide the necessary speed for fusion research.
