India lost Nil-3 to a higher ranked Iranian team in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. In a match played at Kanteerava Stadium in Bangalore last night, India put up a gritty fight in the first half as they just trailed Nil-1 but broke down later by conceding two quick goals in the second half. Known as the Asian heavyweights the visiting Iranian team posted goals by Sardar Azmoun, Andranik and Mehdi Taromi. Indians, are ranked 155th in the FIFA charts as against the visting side's 40th rank. With the loss last night, India are yet to open their account in the qualifying round. It was India's third successive loss in qualifiers as they had earlier lost to Oman and Guam. The team next plays Turkmenistan in an away match on 8th of October.
