The Gujarat Government has charge sheeted senior IPS officer Rahul Sharma was charge sheeted for alleged misconduct by the state Government today. He is the second IPS officer to face the ire of the Modi Government in a week after suspension of Sanjeev Bhatt, who had filed an affidavit in Supreme Court on alleged role of Chief Minister Narendra Modi in 2002 riots. A DIG rank officer, Rahul Sharma was charge sheeted for not submitting the original CDs containing mobile phone call records related to the 2002 communal riots. State Government spokesperson Jaynarayan Vyas told the media persons in Gandhinagar that the copy of charge sheet was served to Rahul Sharma today after his notice period ended yesterday. AIR Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that a 1992 batch IPS officer has been accused of gross misconduct under All India Service Rules 1969. He has been accused of not submitting the CDs containing phone call records during the post-Godhra riots to respective Investigating Officers of Naroda Gam, Naroda Patia and Gulburg Society riot cases. AIR Correspondent says, the issue has become a hot topic following Union Home Minister P.Chidambaram’s remark that the Centre is concerned over the plight of some IPS officers in Gujarat.
