Pressure mounts on BCCI President N. Srinivasan to resign in the wake of alleged involvement of his son-in-law and Chennai Super King, CSK owner Gurunath Meiyappan in betting on IPL matches. Gurunath who was summoned by Mumbai Police reached the metropolitan city this evening a little after 5 p.m. He was named by bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh for the alleged association with bookmakers. Vindoo Dara Singh has since been arrested.The NCP headed by Sharad Pawar today demanded resignation of the BCCI chief after his son-in-law's name figured in the spot fixing scandal. Party spokesman D.P.Tripathi told reporters in New Delhi that Srinivasan is under the shadow of doubt and should resign.Sports Ministry has sought suggestions from States to tackle the menace of spot fixing in Cricket. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, Sports Minister Jitendra Singh called for a long term plan to deal with this menace.In a related development, IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla and BCCI Vice President Arun Jaitley today strongly advocated for a tough law to deal with spot fixing. Talking to reporters after a meeting with Law Minister Kapil Sibal in New Delhi, Mr. Shukla said that they have suggested to the Law Minister to bring a legislation for the purpose. Delhi Police today claimed the arrested bookie Mohd Yahya had Bollywood link and had also alleged links with the underworld. Yahya a resident of Mumbai was arrested at Hyderabad airport today in connection with the Indian Premier League(IPL) spot-fixing scandal when he was trying to flee to Dubai. Delhi Police sources said that Yahya was in touch with players of more than one team, including Rajasthan Royals in the spot-fixing. Sources also said that it has recovered a second mobile phone that arrested cricketer S. Sreesanth had gifted to a female friend in Jaipur.AIR correspondent reports that with the arrest of Yahya, a total of 19 people including three IPL players, four former players and 12 bookies and their assistants have been held since 16th of this month in connection with the IPL spot fixing case. India pacer Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan are the three IPL players who were arrested.
