IPL spot-fixing: Mumbai police summons CSK CEO for questioning

The Mumbai police has summoned Chennai Super Kings CEO Gurunath Meiyappan, the son in law of BCCI President N.Srinivasan for questioning in the spot fixing case. Joint Commissioner Crime Branch Himanshu Roy said Meiyappan has been asked to appear before crime branch in Mumbai between 11 am and 5 pm tomorrow.

Four Police officials from Mumbai were at the gate of the residence of Gurunath Meiyappan in Chennai today
but it was difficult for them to gain entry. They later proved their identity and entered the campus. Sources say that the summon was served on Gurunath even though he was not present there but he has sought time till Monday to appear for questioning.

The Mumbai Police had gone to Chennai to investigate into the role played by Gurunath Meiyappan in connection with spot fixing scandal in IPL. Police said that it was only after Vindoo Dara Singh who was arrested in spot fixing had confessed to have talked to Gurunath that they had come to Chennai to quiz him.

Vindoo Dara Singh, the son of late actor Dara Singh and Ramesh Vyas a bookie were arrested in Mumbai on charges of spot fixing for cricket matches. The mobile phones seized from them had led the Mumbai Police to question Gurunath on his role. Meanwhile, Enforcement Directorate has begun money laundering probe in IPL spot-fixing case.
