IPL spot fixing: BCCI's probe panel gives clean chit to CSK, RRs

Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan Royals and its co-owner Raj Kundra and India Cements have been given a clean chit by the two-judge probe panel set up to enquire into the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal. BCCI Vice-President Niranjan Shah told reporters in Kolkata yesterday that the panel, comprising former High Court Judges T Jayaram Chouta and R Balasubramanian has submitted the report to the BCCI Working Committee. The panel has found no evidence against them.

The panel was mandated to enquire into the role of Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan also, who was the Team Prinicipal of Chennai Super Kings. There is however, no clarity on his role in the scandal.

Addressing a press conference, BCCI interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya said that the inquiry report will be forwarded to the IPL Governing Council which will meet in new Delhi on August 2.

The IPL spot-fixing scandal was unearthed when Indian pacer S Sreesanth, along with two other Rajasthan Royals players Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan and 11 bookies, were arrested for alleged spot-fixing in the IPL.
