IPL spot fixing: BCCI suspends 5 players

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, BCCI has suspended all five players allegedly involved in a spot fixing case in Indian Premier League, IPL matches. It has also set up a committee under the former chief of the International Cricket Council, ICC's Anti-Corruption Unit Ravi Sawani to conduct a preliminary inquiry into the case. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla said the players have been suspended from all cricket activities with immediate effect and will remain under suspension till the inquiry is completed. Mr. Shukla said that the IPL Governing Council met on teleconference today and has recommended to the BCCI President N. Srinivasan for strict action against those players who were found guilty and suspicious on a sting operation by a private news channel. The five suspended players are T P Sudhindra, Mohnish Mishra, Abhinav Bali, Amit Yadav and Shalabh Srivastava.
