IPL betting: One more bookie detained at Mumbai airport

Mumbai police today detained one of the important bookies of Pune circle. Bookie Kesu Pune alias Kishore Badlani was detained this morning around 8 at the Mumbai International Airport.

The Mumbai Crime Branch official said that Kesu Pune had reportedly flown to Europe, fearing that he would be arrested in the IPL betting racket.

Police said that Crime Branch was seeking Kesu Pune’s custody as he is believed to be one of the links to the Dawood Ibrahim gang betting syndicate.

Mumbai police will interrogate Kesu Pune along with Chennai hotelier Vikram Aggarwal. The official said that Aggarwal earlier was also interrogated face-to-face with Meiyappan.

Meanwhile, a Mumbai court today sent actor Vindoo Randhawa and Chennai Super Kings CEO, Gurunath Meiyappan to judicial custody till June 14. The other accused, bookie Prem Taneja and hawala operator Alpesh Patel, have also been sent to judicial custody.

According to a police official, Meiyappan and Vindu will now be taken to Aurthur Road jail in central Mumbai. Earlier, police custody of both Vindu and Meiyappan was extended till June 3.
