IPL 7: Sharma, Pollard guide Mumbai to 19 run win over RCB

In IPL Cricket, Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 19 runs at Mumbai last night. This was Mumbai's second consecutive win, after four defeats in the UAE. For Bangalore, it was the fourth loss in 7 games. Our correspondent reports that the tables seem to have turned for Mumbai, since the IPL has returned home. After beating Kings XI Punjab at Wankhede on Saturday, Mumbai looked even more confident and played like the defending champions. Put in to bat, Mumbai compiled a formidable 187 for 5. It was the 97-run 5th wicket stand between Skipper Rohit Sharma and Keiron Pollard that rescued the home side, which was reeling at 84 for 4 at one stage. Rohit Sharma made an unbeaten 59, while Pollard scored 43. In reply, Bangalore got off to a ballistic start. Chris Gayle, with typical calypso like strokes, got the temperatures rising at Wankhede. Gayle bludgened 38 runs off just 24 balls. But just after his wicket, Bangalore lost sight of the big total, with none of the batsmen really troubling the Mumbai Indians. Harbhajan Singh scalped the crucial wickets of Gayle and Patel. Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumra also bagged 2 wickets each. Rohit Sharma was adjudged man of the match. In today's fixtures, Delhi Daredevils will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in Delhi at 4 PM, while second placed Kings Eleven Punjab will clash with table toppers Chennai Super Kings in Cuttack at 8 in the evening.
