In the first playoff of the current season of IPL, a superb all-round performance by Mumbai Indians catapulted them to the finals last night. Batting first, Mumbai scored 187 for six in 20 overs with Lendl Simmons top-scoring with 65 off 51 balls with three fours and five sixes. Kieron Pollard smashed 41 off just 17 balls with five sixes and a boundary as Dwayne Bravo took 3 for 40 from 4 overs. Chasing 188 runs, Chennai Super Kings crumbled for 162 in 19 overs. The team suffered from the departure of opener Brendon McCullum who is off to play in the test series against England. Chennai Super Kings, though, will get another chance to join Mumbai Indians in the finals if they beat the winner of today's eliminator between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
