IOA to set up 11-member Athletes Commission

Indian Olympic Association, IOA, has decided to set up an 11-member Athletes Commission to give more representation to sportspersons in its General Assembly and Executive Board with full voting rights.Talking to reporters the outgoing secretary-general of IOA, Randhir Singh said the members will be picked by sportspersons who have qualified for the 2012 London Olympics. He said the move was in keeping with the International Olympic Committee's charter.Mr. singh also said that an Olympic monitoring committee, will be launched soon which will have sportspersons from all the discipline who qualify for the London games.He added that there was a proposal to form an Olympian Association of India.
