IOA Prez Malhotra pulls out of IOC meeting

In a dramatic development today, Indian Olympic Association's acting President, Vijay Kumar Malhotra and India's International Olympic Committee(IOC) member Randhir Singh pulled out of the meeting in Lousane, Switzerland next Wednesday with the IOC. The meeting is aimed at sorting out problems so as to bring India back into the Olympic movement. The meeting will also be attended by a delegation of the Union Sports Ministry . The decision of both Malhotra and Randhir came a day after the IOC agreed to include Hockey India General Secretary Narinder Batra and Jharkhand Olympic Association chief R K Anand in the IOA delegation for the meeting, in addition to the four-member list submitted earlier by the acting IOA president. Sports Ministry has termed Vijay Kumar Malhotra's decision to stay away from the upcoming meeting "disappointing". The Sports secretary insisted that the meeting would be held as per schedule and exuded confidence to present a united front.
