Involvement of external forces in Kokrajhar attack cannot be ruled out: Rajnath

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said the involvement of external forces in Kokrajhar blasts and firing in Assam cannot be ruled out. Making a statement in both the Houses of Parliament, Mr Singh said investigations are on to identify militants and their group responsible for killing of innocent people in Kokrajhar last week. Mr Singh said 14 people were killed and 19 others injured.<br/><br/>He said in the Rajya Sabha that the Centre has taken up the matter with Assam government and security forces deployed in the state to track down the militants and bring them to justice. He said the government is ready to engage National Investigation Agency.<br/><br/>The Minister also ruled out the possibility of intelligence failure. He said militants came in Army uniform and attacked at a market place.<br/><br/>He expressed condolences to the bereaved families. Several members raised concern over the incident saying that similar incident took place last year. Accusing the government of withdrawing forces from Kokrajhar, they demanded adequate deployment of Central Para military forces.<br/><br/>Earlier, Mr Singh made a similar statement in the Lok Sabha. When the House met for the day, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan led the House in condemning the incident. The members observed silence in the memory those killed in the terror blast and firing.<br/>
