Investors welcomed the Union Budget 2023-24 presented by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the parliament today. 

The Sensex and the Nifty surged more than half a percent in the afternoon trade. 

The index of top 30 companies at Bombay Stock Exchange, Sensex, was trading above the 60,000 mark while the Nifty, the index of top 50 companies at National Stock Exchange, was trading above the 17,750 level.

The Sensex gained 470 points to trade at 60,020. The Nifty also rose 97 points to trade at 17,759.
