Government has approved investment proposals of about six thousand crore rupees in the past six months under electronics manufacturing schemes. An official of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology told PTI that proposals worth about 18 thousand crore rupees were received. Last year, only companies present in India came up with proposals to expand their facilities but in the past six months, proposals also came from new firms. The official added that investment came from most of the electronics segments like electronic components, telecom network equipment, consumer and automotive electronics.
