Investment in education sector essential: UNESCO

UNESCO on Monday underlining the need for more investment in the field of education sector stated that this is essential to achieve millenium development goals of providing education to all. Briefing reporters in New Delhi , the Director General of UNESCO Mrs Irina Bokova said that the right to education is one of the biggest challenges, as millions of children and adults remain deprived of this basic facilities. She said that India's Right to Education which was recently passed will go a long way in providing education for all. <br/><br/>UNESCO Director General said that the organisation is working on the proposal, soon to establish Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development in the national capital. She also had a meeting with Union Minister of Human Resources Development Mr Kapil Sibal aiming to further deepen the ties in collaboration with academic institutions and the private sector to harness the benefits for achieving the Education for all.
