Invest India agency launched to promote investment in country

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Anand Sharma on Wednesday launched an Invest India agency with a view to promote investment in the country in New Delhi. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that it will act as the first reference point for any investor and facilitate setting up business in coordination with the states. He said that it will also partner with states for attracting both foreign and domestic investment. He said that India has emerged as a major investment destination and invest scenario is encouraging. Mr. Sharma said that to achieve a double digit growth rate, huge quantum of investment is needed in the country. The 'Invest India' agency has been floated by the government and industry body FICCI. Talking to reporters on the sidelines of a function , Mr. Shama said that the government has completed the sectorial review and the industry which are lagging behind will be taken care of.
