The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh has invited domestic and global companies to invest in exploration of gas in the country to bridge the gap between supply and demand. Inaugurating the 8th Asia Gas Partnership Summit in New Delhi today,he said, India is currently 7th largest energy producer and its need will increas by 3 to 4 times in next 20 years.

Dr. Singh called for partnerships in areas like gas pipe line development, LNG terminals, Petro chemicals, gas trading hubs and City gas distribution. Prime Minister stressed the need for Technology and market-based pricing. He inagurated online, the Dabhol- Bangaluru Gas Pipeline connecting South India.
