INTUC accuses WB Govt. of doing nothing for Labourers

West Bengal state President of the Indian National Trade Union Congress Pradip Bhattacharjee has said that the Left ruled state has done nothing for the labourers. He said till now 600 crore rupees worth of provident fund is yet to be disbursed. Bhattacharjee said no laws have been formulated or enacted by the state Government to ensure social security of labourers. He demanded a separate commission for the unorganised sector. Bhattacharjee pointed out that although the state has labour tribunals, they are non functional due to Judges not having been appointed. He said labourers are being paid a mere 120 rupees 100 days of work under the NREGA scheme as against 150 to 180 rupees in other states.
