Intl Red Cross imparts first aid training for Taliban militants in Afghanistan

The International Red Cross committee (ICRC) in Afghanistan has imparted first aid training for Taliban militants, saying that the basic medical training is a core part of its work. <br/> <br/>In a statement issued in Kabul, the ICRC said it provided basic first aid training and first aid kits to arms carriers and to civilians in conflict areas. The committee defended the aid saying it's at the heart of their mandate. <br/> <br/>Bijan Frederic Farnoudi, the Communication Coordinator in Kabul said impartiality of operations is at the core of ICRC operations in its existence of over 150 years. He said that it is by the principle of reciprocity that the ICRC trains both parties in a conflict.<br/> <br/>Some Afghan officials had criticized the move saying Taliban don’t deserve any help.<br/>
