Int'l investors viewing India as global investment destination: Arun Jaitley

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said, international investors have started viewing India as a global investment destination. Speaking at a three day World Economic Forum Summit in New Delhi, he said India had fallen off global radar and now people are getting convinced that it is a place to invest in.

To raise Foreign Direct Investment in the Insurance sector from existing 26 per cent to 49 per cent, the Finance Minister said, government will pass the amended Insurance Bill in the coming winter session of Parliament. On macro economic reforms, Arun Jaitley said, reforms are not about one sensational idea and will take some time to rectify the economy.

The Centre is also looking at realigning the Land Acquisition Act to build confidence of global investors in indian economy. On disinvestment policy, the minister said, India is open for privatization of certain loss making public sector companies and is committed to unveil reforms for natural resources sectors along the lines of coal block auctions.
