Interrogation of ULFA leaders Rajkhowa & Raju Baruah by SIT officials underway

In Assam, grilling of arrested ULFA chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa and self-styled deputy commander-in-chief Raju Baruah by the special operation team of the State police force is continuing. The ULFA chairman is cooperating with the police officials during the interrogation.<br/><br/> According to police sources, a top official of the Special Branch of the State police force had a half-an-hour-long meeting with the two ULFA leaders at the S B Headquarters in Guwahati on Sunday. According to sources, the SB officer offered safe passage to the two ULFA leaders if they agree to hold peace talks with the government by dropping the demand for sovereignty of Assam.<br/><br/> Intelligence sources said there may be backlash from the ULFA in order to make its presence felt in the wake of arrest of its top leaders. ULFA commander-in-chief, Paresh Baruah still has the outfit’s 709th battalion commandant Heera Sarania, Akash Thapa, 28th battalion commandant Dristi Rajkhowa, captain Antu Saodang, Jibon Moran, Michael Deka Phukan, 27th battalion commandant Ram Singh, publicity cell member Anjan Barthakur, accused in noted social activist,Sanjay Ghose murder case Fatik Hatimota, Golap Sonowal and others with him. Meanwhile, the Assam Chief Minister, Shri Tarun Gogoi has again appealed to all militant organizations of the State, including the ULFA, to come forward for peace talks with the government.<br/><br/>
