Troops loyal to ousted Libyan leader Col Mummar Gaddafi have launched fresh attacks around the town of Bani Walid, 140 kilometers south-east of the capital Tripoli. Gaddafi loyalists are holding strategic high ground and are firing mortars and using snipers to target anti-Gaddafi forces at the northern gate of the town. Anti-Gaddafi forces had tried to take Bani Walid on Friday but were forced to retreat. Heavy clashes have continued since then. At another loyalist stronghold – the coastal town of Sirte, anti-Gaddafi forces are making slow progress. The military council in nearby Misrata said 24 anti-Gaddafi fighters were killed and 54 wounded on Saturday. Meanwhile the National Transitional Council is meeting in Benghazi to hammer out a new cabinet. nal News Content
