Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that International Solar Alliance will work like a life-giver to mankind.<br/><br/>Laying the foundation stone of the International Solar Alliance, ISA and inaugurating the interim secretariat of the ISA in Gurgaon on Monday, Mr Modi said, at the recent COP 21 climate conference in Paris, two major initiatives were launched, one was on the innovation on how to fight global warming and climate change, and the other was on the solar alliance.<br/><br/>Mr Modi said, the three nations-USA, France and India have taken the prime initiative of climate innovation.<br/><br/>He also emphasized on the aspect of energy which has also become an integral part of India's development and progress.<br/><br/>Stressing that developing countries had their developmental needs, Modi said that this cannot be possible without the use of energy and hence the dilemma before the world is how to protect the environment while meeting the developmental needs of such nations. The Prime Minister stressed that India and France share much in common about their goal to resolve the issue of global warming.<br/><br/>In his address, French President Francois Hollande said, France wants to build the post Paris agreement with India and the alliance paves the way for it.<br/><br/>He also pledged a 300 million euro contribution to the International Solar Alliance.<br/><br/>Reaffirming their commitment to enhance the use of solar energy globally, the leaders also underlined the importance of deepening the cooperation both bilaterally and also under the aegis of ISA in joint research, development, financing and technology innovation, that will help in promoting accessible energy in a clean, affordable and sustainable manner.<br/><br/>It is an alliance of some 120 countries situated between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn.
