Tibetan Spiritual Leader Dalai Lama Lama has asserted that morals and ethics are essential for ensuring the well-being and service to the humanity, and the world peace as well. He observed that science, politics and religion without moral ethics, may result in disaster and destruction, fear and exploitation. Dalai Lama was delivering his inaugural address for the four day long international seminar on ‘Science, Spirituality and Studies’ organized by the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology under the auspices of the State government at Chintan Bhavan in Gangtok on Monday. In his address, the Governor BP Singh said that the Sikkim government will implement the recommendations of the seminar for infusing moral values in the education system. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling said that his Government has been earnestly trying to the balance material progress of the people with the spiritual one.AIR correspondent reports that a host of scholars and spiritual masters from the various parts of world is attending the four days seminar. It is the first ever effort of its kind in the country to blend traditional wisdom with modern science to introduce lessons in morals and ethics in schools.
