International observers have appreciated Nepal for conducting transparent, free, fair and peaceful parliamentary and provincial elections. <br/><br/>Sharing their observations at Kathmandu this evening, they congratulated Election Commission and people of Nepal for successful completion of historic elections. International observers from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Indonesia and Pakistan said in unison that elections were transparent, free, peaceful, smooth and very well conducted. <br/><br/>The observers also said that they were very impressed to see that people and political parties of Nepal enthusiastically and harmoniously participated in the elections. Former Chief Election Commissioner of India Dr. S.Y. Qureshi said that Nepal conducted a quality election in a very short span of time while India took 30 to 40 years to hold similar kind of polls. <br/><br/>He also said that First Past the Post (FPTP) and proportional representation system adopted by Nepal for House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies is an excellent and democratic process of election. He applauded Election Commission of Nepal for organizing excellent voters education progarmme and strictly enforcing code of conduct. Polling for final phase of parliament and state assemblies was held in 45 districts of Nepal today.
