International Film Festival closes today in Goa

The 42nd International Film Festival of India comes to a close this evening at Panaji in Goa with the screening of French director Luc Besson's 'The Lady'. The film is based on veteran Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi.

The 11-day magnanimous extravaganza was flagged off by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. It will close with Hollywood actress Michelle Yeoh playing the role of Suu Kyi. Super stars, film makers and singers would be awarded for their contribution to the Indian film industry at the closing ceremony.

This edition of the festival, which had more than 150 movies from 65 countries in all the formats, had really gone global with the film makers of the repute of French Luc Besson, Bertrand Tavernier and Australian director Phil Noyce attending the festival and commending it.

Technologically, the festival was more advanced this year showing films in 3-D and animation segment. The special Soccer segment kept after considering Goans love for the game, however, did not get the response the IFFI organisers expected.
