International Day of Non-Violence

The birthday of Mahatma Gandhi is also observed as the International Day of Non-Violence. To commemorate the day, UN Secretary General Ban Ki moon, in a message said that Gandhi’s life of non-violence inspired the United Nations to strive to rid the world of weapons of mass destruction.<br/> <br/>He asked all nations to join the 'End Violence against Women campaign', to raise awareness and funds to fight this problem in all parts of the world. Ban Ki moon urged nations to end violence in all its manifestations, and strive for a safer, greener and more peaceful world. <br/>
