International Day of Democracy 2022

Today is International Day of Democracy. September 15th is celebrated annually across the world to strengthen democracies and highlight its values and principles. The UN has said, this year, the Day will focus on the importance of media freedom to democracy, peace, and delivering on the Sustainable Development Goals.&nbsp;<br />”<br />”<span style="color: #222222;">On the 15th anniversary of the Democracy Day, UN Secretary General António Guterres said that democracy is backsliding across the World. &nbsp;<br />”<br />”Mr. Guetress said, now is the time to stand up for the democratic principles of equality, inclusion, and solidarity. He said, this year, we focus on a cornerstone of democratic societies – free, independent, and pluralistic media.<br />”<br />”The UN Chief said, without a free press, democracy cannot survive, without freedom of expression, there is no freedom. He said, on Democracy Day and every day, let us join forces to secure freedom and protect the rights of all people, everywhere.</span><br />”<br />
